Khensur Rinpoche Geshe Lobsang Delek is a distinguished figure within the Gelukpa lineage, known for his profound contributions to Tibetan Buddhism.

He received his monkhood ordination at the age of seven in 1946 under the guidance of Venerable Geshe Yonten at Karze Monastery in Tibet. This early immersion in spiritual practice laid the foundation for his lifelong dedication to the teachings of Buddhism.

Rinpoche pursued higher studies in Buddhist philosophy at Sera Jey Monastery in Lhasa. However, the political turmoil in Tibet forced Rinpoche into exile in India, where he continued his education at the special rehabilitation camp in Buxa, West Bengal.

In 1970, Rinpoche played a pivotal role in re-establishing Sera Jey Monastery in South India, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to preserving Tibetan culture and spirituality. Under the guidance of eminent scholars, Rinpoche excelled in his studies, graduating with top honors in Buddhist Philosophy. He graduated the Karam (Masters) Lopon (M. Phil) and Lharam Geshe (Ph.D) in Buddhist Philosophy with first position, after completing the entire monastic curricullum. He followed with the post Lharam Geshe Tantric course study at Gyudmed Tantric Monastery in the year 1989.

Throughout his career, Rinpoche has held various leadership positions, including serving as the Abbot of Sera Jey Monastic University and Gyudmed Tantric Monastery. Despite his administrative responsibilities, Rinpoche remains deeply committed to teaching, sharing his wisdom with students within monastic communities and beyond.

Rinpoche’s influence extends far beyond the walls of the monastery, as he travels extensively, conducting Dharma tours and spreading the teachings of the Buddha to diverse audiences worldwide.

Khensur Rinpoche Jetsun Lobsang Delek’s life is a testament to his unwavering dedication to the Buddhist path, inspiring countless iy fortunate that Rinpoche accepted our request to offer these empowerments to our students

• During the initiation students will receive the refuge and bodhisattva vows, taking these vows is necessary to participate in the jenangs.
• Although there will be no required sadhana practices, students who take the initiations should recite Green Tara’s mantra and Medicine Buddha’s mantra a few times every day.
• Rinpoche has granted permission for students participating via Zoom to receive the initiation in full. Rinpoche has advised the online students to avoid all distractions and to pay close attention to receive the initiation.
• Because this is a Kriya (Action) Tantra empowerment, outer cleanliness and purity are highly emphasized.

  All participants should abstain from eating “black foods” starting after you wake up the morning the initiation begins.

  – Avoid: Meat, fish, eggs, onions, garlic, radishes, leeks, chives, and alcohol.

  You can resume your normal diet once the initiation ends, resuming it again the next morning if applicable to you. If you can only manage to eat vegetarian, that is also acceptable

Our total event budget is $36,150 – covering Rinpoche’s travel from India, his attendants, our translator Venerable Khedrup traveling from Canada, altar and offerings, venue, and meals for all participants. Thanks to extraordinary early generosity, $5,500 has already been covered through sponsored flights and lodging.

Registration fees are kept intentionally modest – structured only to offset meals and direct participant costs – so that no one is turned away for financial reasons.

That brings our fundraising goal to $25,000, and every dollar goes directly toward making this event a reality for our entire community. If more is raised, it will help us to organize events like this in the future.

Hard-copy Printed Materials can be purchased in addition to your ticket if you wish to receive a physical hard copy of the materials. Everyone will receive a digital copy at no cost.

Participants will be seated in comfortable chairs during the retreat.

The teachings will be presented in Tibetan language and translated to English. No special equipment is required to follow the translation.
