We have been searching for something we never lost. The restlessness that drives us from one experience to the next, the sense that something is missing, the exhausting effort to be other than what we are — these are not signs of failure. They are the starting point of Mahāmudrā.

This weekend retreat offers an experiential introduction to Mahāmudrā through the First Panchen Lama’s Highway of the Conquerors — the root text of the Gelug-Kagyu transmission, which lays out with rare clarity how śamatha and vipaśyanā are not two separate practices but a single movement of mind recognizing itself.

Mahāmudrā begins with śamatha: learning to let the mind rest in its own nature, without forcing and without distraction. This is not preliminary work — it is already the path. From that ground of genuine stillness, vipaśyanā arises not as a technique but as a natural clarity, a simple recognition of what the mind always already is.

Mahāmudrā offers something intimate and immediate — not a distant attainment, but a quality of presence we can begin to taste in any moment of genuine stillness. Not as a philosophical idea, but as a living reality.

Six experiential sessions each day will alternate guided meditation with teaching and reflection. Each evening will offer an hour of teaching drawing from the Panchen Lama’s root text and, where the tradition licenses it, from the Mahāmudrā songs of the great siddhas.

Daily Schedule: 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, morning session. 12:00 pm to 1:30 pm, lunch break. 1:30 to 3:30 pm, afternoon session
