Dharma Toolkit: Advice to Correctly Follow the Virtuous Friend with Thought and Action: The Nine Attitudes of Guru Devotion (In-Person and on Zoom)

Dates: Mar 1, 8, 15, 22

Correctly devoting to the virtuous friend is the root of the path to enlightenment. If we don’t know how important it is, nothing can happen. It is the root of all realizations from here up to enlightenment, on the Hinayana path to achieve nirvana and the Mahayana sutra and tantra paths to achieve enlightenment. If we correctly follow the virtuous friend with thought and action, if the root is there, we can have success up to enlightenment. Everything depends on this practice, on how much we know of it.” –Kyabje Lama Zopa Rinpoche

In this course Geshe Zopa will explain how to begin to train the mind to be able to properly rely on the spiritual guide. By cultivating the view that sees the guru as a fully awakened being, we receive immeasurable benefits and speed our journey to enlightenment. The 9 attitudes presented here will provide us a roadmap for working skillfully with being able to generate strong confidence in our spiritual guide and extract the greatest benefit from the guru-disciple relationship.
